Perfect Cadence (Worcester LitFest)

wired-ff-front-cover-2017On 6 June 2017, I received an email confirming my story, Perfect Cadence, hadn’t made the shortlist for the Worcester LitFest anthology. I thought that was it. I even submitted the story to another competition. And then, on Friday 14 July, I received a much happier (and quite surprising) email from Worcester LitFest, telling me Perfect Cadence had been selected for inclusion in the anthology. Luckily, the story was still available.

Perfect Cadence is the shortest story I’ve ever had published. I’ve always admired singers who take everything onto the stage with them – who live and die with the characters in their songs. That’s what I try to do. I also love the open mic culture of collaboration, where bands are formed spontaneously, where the fun is unrehearsed and often unrepeatable. That’s kind of what this story is all about.
